Advanced Steam Reforming of Bio-Oil with Carbon Capture: A Techno-Economic and CO2 Emissions Analysis

چکیده

A techno-economic analysis has been used to evaluate three processes for hydrogen production from advanced steam reforming (SR) of bio-oil, as an alternative route with BECCS: conventional (C-SR), C-SR CO2 capture (C-SR-CCS), and sorption-enhanced chemical looping (SE-CLSR). The impacts feed molar carbon ratio (S/C), temperature, pressure, the use hydrodesulphurisation pretreatment, plant capacity were examined in economic evaluation direct emissions analysis. Bio-oil C-SR-CC or SE-CLSR may be feasible routes production, potential provide negative emissions. can improve process thermal efficiency compared C-SR-CCS. At (S/C) 2, levelised cost (USD 3.8 4.6 per kg) avoided are less than those a amine-based CCS. However, at higher S/C ratios, does not have strong advantage, there is need better understand viability operating bio-oil high temperatures (>850 °C) low (e.g., 2), whether cycle sustain deposition levels over long period.

Hydrogen Production via Steam Reforming with CO2 Capture

Hydrogen demand in refineries is increasing vigorously due to the stringent transportation fuel specifications, furthermore the interest in the so-called hydrogen economy developed in the recent years put the hydrogen as energy carrier in the centre of a growing interest. More than 95% of the hydrogen for refinery use is nowadays produced via hydrocarbon steam reforming, where Foster Wheeler pl...

One-step hydrocarbons steam reforming and CO2 capture

1. Introduction Already in 1868 [1], H 2 was produced by the steam reforming (eq.1) of hydrocarbons in the presence of a calcium oxide, and the use of natural calcium-based sorbents as candidates to remove CO 2 in situ from reactors has been receiving increasing attention. Through simultaneous CO 2 absorption (eq.3) the equilibrium of the homogenous water gas shift reaction (eq.2) is shifted to...

Techno-economic analysis of advanced biofuel production based on bio-oil gasification.

This paper evaluates the economic feasibility of an integrated production pathway combining fast pyrolysis and bio-oil gasification. The conversion process is simulated with Aspen Plus® for a 2000 metric ton per day facility. Techno-economic analysis of this integrated pathway has been conducted. A total capital investment of $510 million has been estimated and the minimum fuel selling price (M...

Techno-economic modelling and cost functions of CO2 capture processes

The paper contributes to techno-economic modelling of CO2 capture process in coalfired power plants. Technological options of CO2 capture have been chosen and cost estimation relationships (CERs) for the chosen options provided. The CERs are being fitted into a developed overall model of carbon capture and sequestration. Functions relating capital costs, operation and maintenance costs and tota...
